I had a gastric bypass with Simon on 14/05/24, and it was the first surgery of my adult life, so I was extremely nervous. On the day of arriving for my surgery, Simon came to see me and explained exactly how the procedure would work, and talked me through any concerns that I had. He was extremely knowledgeable and kind, and really added a personal touch to the whole experience. My surgical scars are so neat and I cannot fault his expertise and ability in his field. Simon again came to see me after surgery and just checked in on how I was doing, and informed me of how the surgery went, and I genuinely appreciated this so much. The care and attention that I received whilst I was in hospital for 2 nights was faultless, and I genuinely cannot recommend Simon & his team enough. He keeps in touch after surgery, and is active on social media and likes to follow his patients journeys, which I find extremely refreshing and down-to-earth. Thank you so much to Simon, Molly & the entire team for all that you do, and have done for me. I owe you everything for giving me this new chance at life.

Simon is an fantastic surgeon who is highly skilled at his craft and executes with exceptional level of quality. Great bedside temperament, and listens. If you are looking for bariatric surgery look no further than Dr Monkhouse, you will not be disappointed. His support team are exceptional too. My experience with Mr Monkhouse and his team has been exceptional. From the initial consultation for the Allurion balloon, Mr Monkhouse provided an holistic and personalised care approach. He used terminology which I fully understood and managed my expectations allowing me to make an informed decision without any pressure. On the lead up to insertion all the instructions and medications were delivered to my house promptly and it was very clear when to start taking each of the medications and what they were for. The procedure itself was straightforward and without any complications. Mr Monkhouse went over the aftercare with me and what I could expect over the next coming days. My experience under Mr Monkhouse’s care has been excellent from start to post Allurion balloon and I highly recommend him and his team. The Supportive aftercare has been exemplary, I had a few questions/issues that I emailed him about and I Each time I had very timely responses with reassuring and helpful answers and solutions. Contact and availability is a definite 10/10. The care I have received has been well above and beyond my expectations, without a doubt I wouldn’t have had such great results from the Allurion balloon program if I hadn’t have been in such fantastic care I have received from Mr Monkhouse. I am truly forever grateful to him, he has changed my life.

I would highly recommend Mr Monkhouse, he is very trustworthy, approachable and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for him, from the moment I met him (before surgery) to all the excellent aftercare, I really am grateful for everything he has done for me. Not only did he explain everything that was going on, he was very reassuring, understanding and I felt in safe hands. 4 and a half month post bypass… and very close to being 6 stone down, I am no longer diabetic, I no longer take two different types on blood pressure meds, my heart rate is stable, and I have regular periods after 12 years. Simon Monkhouse has completely and utterly changed and saved my life! I was a tricky case for Simon, due to scar tissue from having a gastric band, Simon was willing to take on the task, and genuinely really wanted to help me. I was reassured that the operation would not go ahead if it was to tricky or unsafe, Simon even went to the lengths of having an addition surgeon in theatre (just incase) to keep me safe, but Simon ms amazing expertise meant the addition surgeon only observed and wasn’t needed. After surgery Simon was in contact constantly, whatever the issue or worry, Simon was always there with a reply sometimes in minutes. It dosent stop there, for every non scale victory, happy moment, next weight bracket down ect Simon is always so thrilled a happy for his patients, whether that’s pre op or years post op! I am pretty much certain you will not find another surgeon more supportive and caring. Thankyou Simon and team for saving my life, and enabling me to have the life I’ve always dreamt of! Lucy x
